The difference between the manhwa and the novel, and how they handled the characters, is crazy. The most affected one is Vincent, especially in Season 2. The new chapter is a prime example of this. His scences with Ethan waere highly altered just to create a cheap love triangle. A lot of plot points were also altered, like when Paula left Lucas after he was shot because he begged her to leave since her life was at risk—and how this massively affected her. The trauma Paula carried from that moment, having to abandon someone she cared about while he was bleeding and dying, was deeply explored in the novel. In the manhwa, they completely watered down her guilt, her nightmares, and how that event psychologically broke her. They also highly watered down Paula's past and trauma in general. This is why a lot of people find her hiding her looks from Vincent kind of overexaggerated—because without the full context of her trauma, her actions seem irrational.
In the novel, even Joly was her own character. In the manhwa, they cut a lot of her dialogue and her relationship with Violet. Ethan's trauma was also handled horribly. The romance is also worse in the manhwa. Take the reunion scene in ch 92 : they made Vincent kinda pushy, when in the novel he was cautious and respected her boundaries He was so sweet and understanding. He literally asked her permission to touch her before approaching her. I hate that the manhwa made him into this pushy ML kind of trope, when he is completely different in the novel. like This is not my Vincent. They completely butchered his character and his development . The scene was emotional in the novel. In the manhwa, he was kinda cold. the scene in the novel was handled way better than the manhwa. And also, they made him kind of stupid in the chapters before , when he is highly intelligent in the novel. I think that's because they deleted and altered a lot of his moments. Oh yeah, and they deleted a lot of sweet moments between Paula and Vincent The connection between them vincent yearning , him being hurt because she lied to him how much he trusted her and how much they mean to each other were not given justice in the manhwa like the raw deep emotions at their reunion that the novel exploded so much were so flat in the manhwa
And finally, what's also sad is the art decline because of the horrible schedule the artists are faced with. skip season 2 read the novel
