As many of you already know yesterday was my mother's memorial service and our final fairwell to one of the most loving women on the planet.
These are the flowers that were donated by different companies.
We arranged them for the service with help from a family friend whose hobby is floral arrangements.
The service was so beautiful.
Sitting there trying to hold back the tears as mom's preacher read her obituary.
Remembering all the good and yes the bad as well all brought tears. Even now as I try to write this with some sort of cohesion and comprehention. Sorry some words are escaping me at the moment.
I was in tears until my baby sister got up there and started telling stories about mom. The only problem is all the stories included me! I was always the family joker. Always pulling pranks. She had to tell the story about when I put plastic wrap on the toilet bowl trying to get my older sister but got mom instead. And the time in church when she noticed the preacher talking slower and slower staring intently. Mom followed his gaze until she saw what he was looking at. I had a mouth full of bubble gum and had blown a bubble as big as a basketball. I was just out of her reach so she couldn't pop it.
There were so many more stories and I owe my baby sister a slap in the head for ratting me out to the church!
Mom had five children in all. When we got old enough to bring friends over all our friends called her mom. When our children were old enough to bring their friends over they too called her mom and grandma. You see most people take in stray animals. Mom took in stray people. Everyone who ever met mom loved her. She just had that effect on people.
Mom you are now with dad standing at Throne of God. Your job on Earth is done. You taught us many things but the greatest was how to love, understanding and compassion for others. May all your children and grandchildren take your teaching to heart and practice them on a daily basis.
Goodbye mom, I'll see you again one day. Love you mom.
