I'm trying to wrap my head around all things major scale. You know that old solmization classic from the sound of music "Doe a Deer" from the sound of music?
If you are a guitarist of my age it's probably that 3 note per string thing you practiced for hours on end to play like Paul Gilbert, but then never actually used.
A while ago I was taught that the major scale was made up of the following intervals.
C major has no sharps or flats so learning those notes are easier.
So starting on the A string 3rd fret is C, move up one TONE (2 frets) to D.
Move up one more TONE and you get to E
One Semitone from there is F... You get the idea.
Guitarists in general seem to have an issue with learning the notes on the guitar neck, and I'm no exception. I know the notes on the high and low E strings, the A string, but after that I get a bit lost. I've been working on trying to learn the rest of the strings and playing the major scale up a single string has been helpful, slow, but helpful.
Well Sunday night couch is calling. Night all.
