UNPLANNED RECORDING SESSION: Dimitrije Dimitrijević - Ponestaće
Hey guys! My ''music production week'' was abruptly canceled because
of yet another unplanned recording session I had with Dimitrije. He's
back in Zagreb for a few days (coming from far away Niš) so he called
me up and we agreed to have a session in my little studio.
(this also unplanned photo ended up being an album cover)
Dimitrije tends to come to the studio with almost no pre-written material.
He did that when we were recording ''Južno'' a few months ago and he
did it again this time. He does have some bits and pieces, never written
down but rather kept inside his head in fragments so he plays around with
them and just sort of makes music happen. He's never in Zagreb for more
than a few days and I'm always on the run so when we work, we work
non-stop, trying to make the most of the little time we have. This means
that everything needs to be done in 24 hours - the songs, the mixing AND
the mastering, the album cover photo - we go from scratch to an entire
album within a day. He even sleeps in the studio to save as much time we can.
This time we decided to have an even more intimate approach
than last time. Everything was recorded during late hours,
ensuring that his playing and singing would be very quiet and
intimate, sort of like having someone whispering the songs in
your ear before bed time. We ended up with 4 songs appropriately
named ''1'', ''2'', ''3'' and ''4'', all with this really groovy and quiet feel.
Here's the result!
