We'd spent a few days in Lisbon, enjoying the weather, the art galleries, the riverside, and the trams, before taking a flight to Sao Miguel in the Azores. On our last day we had a few hours to kill before our flight so we hopped on a train back down to a station called Oriente to find something to entertain us.
This area is a riverside area home to shopping centres, aquariums, and luckily for us, a cable car. The Cable Car starts from the Oceanarium (Passeio de Neptuno) and from the Old Vascso da Gama tower (Passeio das Tágides). It was 6 Euros for a return visit so we went for a ride.
It was lovely to take in the views of this part of the city, and especially good to be in an air conditioned cabin to escape the heat!
The pictures below also show you the Vasco da Gama Tower, which is the tallest building in Lisbon, with a viewing platform enabling you to see for miles. I'll be back to Lisbon one day I'm sure so will hopefully have more time to check it out.
You can also see the beginnings of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, which is the longest bridge in the European Union, stretching over 7.5 miles. That's a long bridge!
After this is was time for some refreshment so we headed for a probably the busiest McDonalds in Lisbon (is was next to the Aquarium so full of tourists), and then back to the airport for out flight to the Azores...
