I couldn't help but come up with a new post after reading a tweet a friend showed me and then seeing the market plummet 10-15% today. I started checking a bunch of sources about what the reason might be but actually got weary of that and just switched on a different channel.
What is going on?
With respect to the news that caused this crash I gotta say: I don't know. However, it's clear that we've been sitting in this rabbit hole for a while, and nobody seems to know how to get out - or they don't want to tell us, because they may be able to make some extra money.
In general, however, it has become apparent to me what the sentiment in this bear market looks like:
- Anyone who is really interested in crypto or plans to make gazillions with it is in already, most likely with pretty much their life savings
- Anyone who is interested in crypto, but watches the market to see where it would go, is currently too scared to buy as the markets have been going down
- Anyone who says crypto is rubbish is laughing at the first group
Break the cycle!
We need to break the cycle. We need to start behaving rationally about this. Let's stop looking at market caps. They are a really bad indicator for the amount of money that is "in crypto". Let's focus on price, trading strategies and active trading.
We should start buying Bitcoin with a bit of the fiat that we got left. And once we've given some confidence to other people, we should also start realizing some profits and sell. Yes, that's right: don't HODL.
At the time of writing, I could push the price of Bitcoin on the largest exchange (Binance) from 6800 to 7500 by just buying slightly less than 100 BTC for USDT (looking at the order book - I know this isn't entirely accurate as people would start submitting additional orders), but I could sweep the current orderbook snapshot. Now, 100 BTC is quite a lot for me alone, but could be achieved together quite easily.
So, instead of waiting for the next bull run, let's just start creating it. Shut up and buy!
