Ubisoft screw many games in the past and apparently they are fixing them, for example Rainbow Six Siege is in similar state. So when I heard, what the new patch for The Division has to offer. I decided to give it a shot, again. Let me take this clear…Forgive, but not forget. The division was in really bad shape when it was released back in 2016 and I will never forget it, but I won’t talk about it in this article. I will just say what is good and bad in the game right now.
First things first. What The Division is. It is an RPG, MMO-like, Third-Person Shooter. The game is set in post-apocalyptic New York and it has every Ubisoft open-world things you could expect. Huge open world with tons of quests, side quests and points of interest. Everything can be done solo or with group of four people and the difficulty scales with more people. However the most important thing is, that it is RPG first. You will find shiny loot everywhere and that is the point of this game. It is not a third person Call of Duty, it is more like Diablo.
The story is actually good, but it is not finished and that can be frustrating. I play games for the story, but not this one. The open world is simply beautiful. It is the most detailed world I have ever seen in gaming, so if you like exploring and traveling everywhere, you will love it. Okay, this is really important and it can be turn off for many people. At the beggining I wrote „RPG“ and it is really RPG. If you don’t have a good equipment, you will suck hard. Enemies, especially bosses have quadramillion HP and sometimes, you have to shoot them for a very long time, before they die. However whole system works like it workd in Diablo (god I hate this, but it is really the same system). You can choose difficulty and everything like you want to, but loot will get more loot when you are running higher tiers, obviously.
The main focus of this game is on PVE, but there is PVP too and in many ways. You have Dark Zone, which is big open area, where you have to secure your loot before leaving the area, but every other player can kill you and steal your loot. This game mode is not for schizophrenic. The second PVP game mode (without DLC) is teamdeath match 4v4, but if you don’t have good equipment, you will be crushed. This is a shame, because it is fun and they should make it like in Destiny, where equipement doesn’t matter in PVP. However this is only my opinion, some folks love to grind the best gear in the game and then kill everything that moves.
Overall the game is quite fun and has a lot to offer, even more with these fuckers called DLC. It even has „horde“ mode (non-DLC!), like zombies in COD. The Division is a game, that is not for everyone, but if you are looking for loot,shoot and grind, this game is worthy of your time. I would say, that it is better that Destiny 2 in many ways.
