Do you play lot of games, but you have no clue how to make them and you would like to try it? Well, this article is your first step to learn something new! First of all, if you want to make a game, you have to download an engine. There is many of them, for example Game Maker, Unreal Engine and Unity. Each has its own pros and cons and there is nothing like „this is the best engine ever“. I did few shitty games in Game Maker, but they changed it a lot and I didn’t want to learn it again, so I switched to Unity. Unity is solid engine and you can make games for almost every platform you know, which is nice. You can download unity Here

After downloading and installing, you can finally start Unity. You will see first window, where are links for tutorials etc. and they are quite good. However if you want to make new project, you have to click on „new“.

After that, you can choose if you want to make 2D or 3D game. I would recommend you to make a 2D game first, but many people would argue. So just pick one and click on Create Project.

Now, you finally see Unity, there is where games are made. You actually have to learn how to code. Disappointed? Yea, I was too, there is no way you can learn how to make games by reading one silly article. However now, you know, where to start! Unity supports C# and it is relatively easy language. The next think you have to learn is what Unity can do in its interface.

Documentation is here. However if you are struggling, just search on youtube for any tutorials you need. There is no shame in learning something new and youtubers helped me a lot, but just don’t blindly copy word by word. You have to think by yourself and if you you encounter an obstacle, try to overcome it! Don’t quit! Other thing I would recommend you is to watch youtube channel called Extra Credits. They are the motivation you need and they know what they are doing.

Now go, learn and explore! It is the whole new world!
