I'm excited to be part of this community of people called Hivians.
Here's a little bit about me:
- My name is Greg.
- I'm an upholsterer, web designer/marketer, and former retail manager.
- I'm originally from the United Kingdom but now live in Columbus, Ohio.
- I'm passionate about kindness, AI, and helping people.
I've been on Hive for just over a year, but I only started using it regularly in the past few months. I realized that I hadn't done a proper introduction post, so I thought I'd better do so now and earn my official badge!
My interests include:
- AI
- Kindness
- Mental health
- Personal experiences with conditions like ADHD, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury, and chronic pain
- Respecting all cultures, religions, traditions, and backgrounds
How I Came to Hive
I discovered Hive through 
I was initially hesitant to join, but I started posting a few months ago. It took me some time to get used to Hive, but I'm really enjoying it now and I'm excited to make it my new home base!
What I hope to achieve the following on Hive:
- Make new friends from diverse and different backgrounds
- Connect with like-minded people
- Build a community around kindness
I'm looking forward to:
- Sharing my thoughts and experiences

More about me:
I grew up in Barrow-in-Furness, a small shipbuilding town in Cumbria, UK. It's near the English Lake District and has beaches and water on three sides. During my youth, I spent a lot of time fishing, gathering cockles, and enjoying the sea - those are the things I miss the most!
A Little about my Hometown
Here are some interesting facts about my hometown, Barrow in Furness:
- It has Cumbria's only gray seal colony.
- The artist George Romney was born nearby and gained fame in London.
- Barrow has its very own monarch, the landlord of The Ship Inn on Piel Island.
- Barrow overlooks the Irish Sea and Morecambe Bay and boasts 60 km of coastline dotted with sandy beaches and areas of natural beauty.
- Barrow was once home to the largest and wealthiest monastery in northwest England.
- In the 19th and 20th centuries, salt, sand, and gravel were extracted from South Walney, leaving behind lagoons that still influence the landscape and its wildlife today.
- Barrow is a great destination for beach vacations, surfing, and exploring its history.
