Who doesn't face challenges? Life is full of challenges. Some people take it in their stride, while others resist them with vigor, while some barely endure them.
I see challenges as part of my growth and development as an individual. I believe challenges bring out the best in me, they help me explore my inner resources and dive deep inside to find the solutions I need in every situation. One thing you need to do is to believe that you have what it takes to face what life throws at you.
Challenges come with opportunities, opportunities we never thought existed. Opportunities that are never visible to those who feel the need to run away from them.
Challenge always bring out the fight or flight reactions in us. The truth is challenges are actually special times for us to explore ourselves and discover those qualities in us which we never thought existed. Quitting isn’t even an option for those who desire growth.
I never knew I was a fighter until I faced certain challenges in my life. I had to stand up before the giants I feared and fight my way through to victory. One of the major challenges I faced was public speaking. All my life I ran away from it until I had to stand in huge auditorium before hundreds of universities students, freshman to doctorate holders and talk for an hour and a half.
My spiritual Guru/ guide who was to address the gathering suddenly fell ill and I had to take over within a matter of minutes. When I walked off that podium that day, I knew that I had it in me to face anything in life. I discovered a new me and since that day I haven't stopped talking.
Challenges are nature's way of showing you what you are made of. Even though they seem like invincible giants they are there to help you grow. The fear that is within is what needs to be conquered. when that first step is taken the rests flows easily.
The butterflies in the stomach, palpitations of the heart, the rapid beating of the pulse are just body signals telling you have enough energy to fight. However this emotion called fear takes over your mind and misinterprets these signals as time to flee.
Learning to handle your emotions, to calm yourself down with various techniques helps you face your fears. I love nature and I often use visualization to calm me down.
I have mental images of places where I have been and felt absolutely calm and happy stored in my huge database (my mind). I tend to use these mental images I relive the same experience and emotions I once experienced and go over them again and again in my mind until I am in a calm state of mind.
It is easier to face challenges when you are calm and have your emotions under control. You are rational, you don't imagine giants where there are none and you do what you have to do without second guessing yourself.
You slowly learn the importance of doing your best and moving on. This is a learning process, it doesn't happen overnight, you might fail but its okay. Get up and train yourself to face the challenges life throws at you.
True, life is tough, but remember you are tougher and you would get even tougher as you face more challenges.
