My last days in Florida, what did I do? Of course, I found more hiking trails to see nature. This one is an Osprey Hiking trail that is located in central Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. More precisely on the Honeymoon island and the trail goes along the peninsula. I really liked this island because it was not fully built over with houses and hotels like most of the coastal areas of Florida. Instead, there was nature and I felt like I'm far away from the busy city life.
So along the trail, you can see many different animals. You can read the sign on the first photo to know more about the hiking path.
Overall the trail was covered with sand and pine trees. I love how the pines look in Florida, to me they look soft and not stingy at all.
I read that there is a high possibility to see tortoises but sadly I didn't spot any, I did see one snake. Most of you probably know the Poison Ivy, there were many of these, don't try to touch these. I don't have a photo of them but these plants are partly red and partly green with three leaves.
There were many eagles roaming around in the area. So some of the trees they often stand on look like this.
I was not able to walk the whole path because it was closed on the halfway due to the breeding period of birds, they need their peace.
On the way, I came across with an animal I had never seen in the wild yet, an armadillo.
On my way back I just did some bird watching.
It was incredible to see so many eagles in the wild.
To get on the Honeymoon island you have to pay a toll fee which was 6USD per car if I remember correctly. It was definitely worth it!.
