Two nights ago I looked out of the window and saw some amazing bright skies. Without further thinking I went outside to capture some of it.
In previous summers you have seen my posts of glowing night clouds, the rare form of clouds you can only see in the mid summertime and in locations above the 50 degrees latitude. I was thinking that the clouds I saw that night might be these clouds because they didn't move they looks very similar.
The dark clouds you see on the lower side of the photo are ordinary clouds.
So I'm still not sure if they were the glowing night clouds or just very high hanging clouds. Whatever the case, they were amazing.
On the other direction was a Cumulonimbus incus cloud, these are the atomic bomb explosion looking monster that often produces heavy rain and thunder. I did not see any thunder but it was absolutely massive.
Lower layers of these clouds you can pretty much touch with a stick but the upper side reaches up to 10 kilometers in height.
I'm sure I can show you some glowing night clouds this summer, just have to keep my eyes open!
