... subsidy that helps cut the cost down. Everything is flown in during the winter (basically 8-9 months of the year) so costs can be very expensive. A 12 pack of pop is $30. Because it's unhealthy, bulky and heavy. But take a look at that milk on the list again. That is a 2 litre of milk. $4 isn't that bad, considering where we are. But if there wasn't a northern subsidy it would cost over $20.

Basically, if it's healthy it's subsidised and affordable. But if it's a sugary, savory luxury food, like chips or pop, it's prohibitively expensive.
