Life was never easy for Chris growing up, he had to hustle for his daily bread from the age of 9. There's no menial job that he hasn't done. Finally, luck struck him at the right spot, it was like an accession to the throne of success.
His gift for painting started paying off, he made really mind blowing artworks and people will roll bundles of money on the table just to buy his paintings.
Things were looking good. He got himself his dream wristwatch at a very luxurious price, changed his wardrobe - feeling fresh like early morning breeze.
On his way to deliver his painting to Mr Hector, a client of his; paying lots of money for this particular painting of a scantily dressed gorgeous lady licking a strawberry; a fast moving car ran him over. He was rushed to the nearest hospital. The injuries on his hands were very serious, so he was immediately rushed into the operations room.
After several hours, the doctors came out, Chris's father and step mom were sitting down waiting restlessly, news had reached them of the ordeal. At the sight of the doctors, they ran over, and his dad asked, "How's my boy doing?". The doctor said that, "He's stable now, but the injuries he sustained on both his hands were very severe. We did our best, now we'll have to wait until he wakes up".
Chris's father and step mom continued to wait just outside the room. So many hours past. Suddenly, a nurse ran to their direction, and opened the door; quickly they both stood up, looking into the room through the transparent glass.
And behold, Chris opened his eyes. His father could not control the joy, he opened the door and wanted to talk to him, but the nurse quickly sent him out, saying, "He needs time to regain himself, you'll talk to him later".
His father's face turned pale later on, when Chris said that he couldn't move both his hands. Chris was just starting to be the bread winner, and they relied on the fast sales of his paintings to survive. "With both his hands not working, how can he paint?", his father lamented putting his left hand to his chin.
Chris's step mom was always cruel to him when growing up, but as soon as he started to make lots of money from his artworks, she became nice to him.
After some days, Chris was discharged from the hospital. The next four weeks was hell. His step mom Maria, suddenly turned to her wicked and careless self. She wouldn't give Chris breakfast. She said, "Now you're useless, you can't make your paintings. And yet you want to eat my food..? Useless boy".
Chris cried and said, "For how long can I condone this? I hate been confined and broke like this". With extreme anger in him, he raised the glass cup by his side with his right hand and smashed it against the wall. His heartbeat was still raising fast, then he touched his right hand with his left.
He stared at both his hands with bright light in his eyes. Raised both hands in the air and screamed with the happiest tone so loud.
