Understanding Crypto Currency from someone who doesn't have technical background

I was just recently introduce with steemit and cryptocurrency by a friend since I'm into investment got curious how it works. I'm still in a process of understanding this new stuff. Recently found this blog by Brad Mills: Serial Tech Entrepreneur.

I felt so dumm when I was first introduce to this things, in his blog he clearly explain how Cryptocurrency works and its history. For me internet was just for Facebook and instagram, basically for social media. Below table show how crypto currency is being transmitted.

If you know any other blog that would help a newbie like me in understanding this things I'd appreciate it who you comment below. :)
