Maggie came to my life when I did not expected it.
I had Nash already, my first puppy, and I was happy with my little boy. But there was a part of my heart that was not full yet.
One day, I saw a post on Facebook, from an organization that rescues street dogs; There she was, a black dog, with a bad haircut, sad look, and they were giving her up for adoption; she looked a lot like Nash, white-chest, black fur. Since I saw her, I wanted her to be mine.
At home I live with mom, I cannot make a decision without her agreeing, so I asked her and she said without hesitation: with one dog is enough, there is no time to attend to Nash and another, I showed her the picture of Maggie, still she said that no; I tried to convince her for three days, until she said YES, that's fine, you can bring home the dog.
I promised to take care of her early in the morning, since she was in charge of Nash, because of my work, I had to leave the house early in the morning, so I told her that I would get up earlier to leave her food in her little dish ready for her to eat.
When Mom agreed to my request, I rushed to the house of the girl who had her, and, when I arrived and met her for the first time, my heart fell in love with that little black thing, lightweight and smelly, her eyes captivated me, those small round and brown eyes looked at me fearful, but I saw her fixedly and whispered in her ear: You are mine now, everything will be fine, I promise.
I was going to get her the next day, but I begged the girl who took care of her to give it to me at that moment. She agreed when I showed her pictures of my house and the place where she would be in company with Nash, my other dog, she had me fill up an adoption sheet and 10 minutes later I had Maggie with me, she took a picture of her and we said goodbye.
I took a taxy back home and now Maggie was with me, her name for at the moment was Gabanna, but I changed it to Maggie, because it seemed to me to be sweeter, and small, just like her.
All the way home she trembled in my arms, she was disoriented and afraid, because in the place where she was living before that girl rescued her, they beat her with sticks and left her to sleep in the street, she and another puppy, thank God the other one also found a home.
When arriving at house Nash went like crazy to receive her, she ran to hide under a table and did not allow Nash to come close to her to play, when I tried to come close she pee and threw itself to the ground. I took her in my arms and pet her for a while till she felt comfortable with me, I put a pink clothe on her body to cover her from the cold.
That night she slept with me and Nash. The next day I bathed her and cut her tangled hair, in the middle of the knots of her hair she had many ticks, I cleaned her with a lot of patience and love, she was still afraid.
The process for her to trust us was difficult, after two months she began to trust, she approached my mother and me, and she was happy to see us and when she knew it was time to eat.
Today Maggie fully trusts Mom and I, she is happy, my mom's favorite, after saying she did not want another dog. Sge argues with me, just to get Maggie to sleep with her. We love her, and she loves us.
Her life and our life changed. Now I can say, my heart is full, she was that little piece of happiness that I was missing.
