looks to me like you would have to press pretty hard on those keys to even get them to move. When i was a kid we had an electric typewriter and that was powerful and extremely heavy. One of the main features of it was that it could "erase" mistakes although that didn't help very much for any copies that were being made by the impact below.

To this day dot-matrix impact printers are still widely used because it is the only way to get real copies of something that cannot be altered from the original. They also don't break down all the time like laser printers and inkjets do.
