I have had a somewhat unique experience as a guitarist and musician in that many different guitars have passed through my hands and many of those are still with me - even though after beginning to play at age sixteen, I didn't own my own guitar for five full years. I thought this could make a fun series of posts here on Steemit, highlighting some of the different guitars I've had along the way.
So I learned to play guitar on my Dad's old Ovation. That Sunburst guitar was always around the house as I was growing up, and by the time I was motivated enough to learn myself, it was natural that the Ovation became the instrument I learned on.
My Father had used this guitar as his main performing and recording instrument probably from the early 80's. It sounded great plugged in - I remember because as soon as I could string a few chords together I was singing and making appearances at our local Open Mic and Folk Club using the Ovation and playing my very earliest songs (cringe).
My Dad basically gave me free reign with it, because for all intents and purposes it was my guitar from the time I started learning until I was gifted my very own brand new acoustic/electric guitar (a Crafter) for my 21st birthday.
Not long after this picture was taken my Crafter would meet a sudden and sad ending, but I will save that part of the story for the next installment.
