Dear Hivers,

The last months I have been reading and watching videos about off-grid power systems powered by solarpanels. And believe me for someone new to this it is quite complex to understand.

Today I tested in the organic garden where I have sun, space and most of all privacy !

In brief :
A 100 Watt solar panel delivers some 17volt with 5,5 amp rounded 100 Watt.
Today I tested this and came to 70 watt on a sunny moment. In winter time
(see pic) this is and I am happy with that.

The power is stored in a 12volt lithium battery but this requires a battery charge controller. In my case this is included in the power pack of ALlpowers (China!) The controller prevents overloading and helps/buffers when panels do not deliver 12vlt.
(see pic)

And then ofcourse you want to use that (stored) power either via USB or other DC outlets or a normal 110-220 volt AC plug. This requires the most expensive part of the cycle whioch is a converter. It converts 12V to 110-220 volt. Again this part is included in the Allpowers power pack as a range of outlets AND wireless phonecharging as well.

So here you see the maximum charge I could see today: 70 watt

I am not gonna tire you with more technical stuff but this solution in total cost me 80 for the panel; 40 for the 4 meter wires and clips and 500 for the Allpowers station. So some 620 EUR. But be aware a charge controller and convertors normally cost 250 and 500 so this is cheap stuff from China. Fingers crossed.

I have dream:
"One day in Spain my whole garden set-up will power the house! "
