We are just about to experience a transportation revolution as dramatic as the switch from horses to cars.
The changes which are likely to occur much faster than most folks think include:
- Electric cars. More and more vehicles will have zero emission. They now represent a tiny percentage of all new car sales but it will go to 1, 2, 5, 10% and more at accelerating pace. Less pollution, less noise.
- Autonomous driving. Cars, trucks, and busses will drive themselves. Fewer accidents, lower insurance premiums, lives saved.
- Car sharing. If the car can drive itself, why should it sit in a parking lot for hours a day doing nothing. Car owners or vehicle sharing companies will be able to micro lease the vehicles for an hour or two.
