Well, yes and no. My sister planted the original herb gardens in 1992 and then moved to New Mexico. She'd put in 5 - 6 varieties, and only 1 survived. I think it was because it was so near the woodstove in the cellar, along the foundation. When we built the other side 6 years later and didn't use the woodstove in the cellar so much, it died.

I am an oddball who does not find the smell of lavender pleasant. I think it's a nice plant to have in the garden, but would not use it. I did try to grow some last year, and for some odd reason it survived the winter unprotected.

But this year it is under that tree of a tansy. It was still alive when I last checked. Today I hope to work in the New Herb garden and try to tame the tansy. So I may yet have a tiny lavender plant, if it survives another winter.
