When did the first life really originated and what actually was it?

Many good Evidences actually suggests that the life first really evolved around a 3.5 billion years ago....

This evidence actually takes the actual form of a microfossils (which is fossils that are too small to really be seen without the effective aid of a microscope) and an ancient rock structures present in South Africa and also australia,the rock structure is called the "stromatolites".....

Stromatolites are actually produced by the microbes (mainly the photosynthesizing cyanobacteria) that actually do form some thin microbial films which do trap mud; over time, the layers of these mud/microbe mats can actually build up into the layered rock structure which is the stromatolite....

Stromatolites are truly still being produced by the microbes today. ..These modern stromatolites are also remarkably so similar to the ancient stromatolites which do provide a great evidence of actually some of the earliest life on Earth.....

The Modern and the ancient stromatolites do actually have similar shapes and, when actually seen in cross section, they both really show the same fine layering which is actually produced by thin bacterial sheets....

The Microfossils of ancient cyanobacteria could sometimes also be identified within these layers....
