The actual reason why there is the primary DNS and also the secondary DNS addresses is for the purpose of redundancy. ..what it actually means is that If the first (main) DNS server could not be really accessed for the host resolution, then the secondary DNS server address would certainly be used as a fallback.....usually your Internet service provider or your preferred DNS host would really provide you with both a primary and secondary dns....
