I am exhausted today, so I don't have the time or energy to do much more than a quick update. Sweet Pea is doing much better today! She is back to eating like a champ and even let me milk her partway out this morning. I'm glad about that last part because she had gone three days without being milked and I was concerned about a congested udder, on top of all the rest. I think she's out of the woods now, but I will keep watching her closely, and I will give her steroid injections for the next couple of days.
I did get down to the creek yesterday, but I made the terrible mistake of taking one of the puppies with me, so there wasn't much relaxing to be had. I only stayed a few minutes, since Two Socks was more excited about running around on the rocks than letting me sit with my feet in the water. I drove less than a quarter mile down the road, but still the drool was abundant, and he did manage to throw up in the car.
The water level in the creek is way down, but it would have been enough for a good relaxing soak if the puppy overlord had allowed for it.
The next time I go down there, I will definitely go by myself!
We had a surprise visit last night from the friend who gave me the raccoon. She is raising a bummer lamb and has been feeding her goat milk. She came for a refill and brought the little sweetheart with her.
Today was just about goat rounds and laundry and all the quotidian things that fill my days but don't make for very dramatic posts. I'm off to the barn for chores now! I'll leave you with a shot of the alder grove under which the little herd is mowing right now.
