A few days ago, while hanging laundry on my balcony, I found an unfamiliar cloth shopping bag caught on the fence. It had been a windy day recently, and so was that day.
Considering the height and location of the surrounding buildings, I figured that someone living in the same building as me, perhaps on the upper floor, had hung it out to dry on the balcony and the wind had blown it away. I wondered what I should do in such a case... The rental apartment where I live has a superintendent's office, but there is no resident superintendent.
After some thought, I decided to leave it on the counter in front of the superintendent's office. It is also near the entrance to the building, so if the owner of the bag passes by, he or she will notice it. I thought it would not be appropriate to just leave it there, so I decided to add a message.
"This flew onto my balcony"
After I finished writing the message and looked at it for a while, I started to worry that it looked somewhat unkind. The recipient of this message might think that I am annoyed... So I decided to write a ☺ mark above the message.
The shopping bag and the piece of paper with the message on it sat on the counter untouched for two days, but on the third day it was gone. Good, the owner took it, I thought.
Today, however, when I walked past the superintendent's office to go to work, I saw only a piece of paper that I had attached to the shopping bag... I wondered what it was and picked it up. To my surprise, it was a reply from the owner!
The yellow text is the reply.
"I received it safely! Thank you for picking it up☺!"
The reply from the owner was also with ☺.
I was a bit heartwarming by the unexpected reply, so I posted it on Hive.

数日前のこと、ベランダで洗濯物を干していたところ、柵に見慣れないエコバッグが引っかかっているのを見つけました。このところ風の強い日が多く、その日もビュウビュウと風の音が聞こえるほどの強風でした。
周囲の建物の高さや位置関係から考えて、同じ建物に住む誰か、おそらく上の階の住人がベランダに干したものが飛んできたのだろうと見当をつけました。でもこういう場合ってどうしたらいいのだろう・・・ 私の住む賃貸マンションには、一応管理人室はあるものの、常駐の管理人さんはいません。
少し考えて、管理人室の前のカウンターに置いておくことにしました。建物の出入り口付近でもあるので、持ち主が通れば気づくでしょう。ポイっと置いておくのもなあと思い、メモをつけることにしました。
『ベランダに飛んできていました。』
と。
メモを書き終えてしばらく眺めていると、なんだか冷たい感じに見えることが気になってきました。もし私がこのメモを受け取ったら、「飛ばしてすみません」みたいな気持ちになるなあと・・・ そこで、メッセージの上に☺マークを書いておくことにしました。
エコバッグとメモは2日ほどそのままでしたが、3日目に消えていました。よかった、持ち主が持って行ったんだ、と思いました。
ところが今日、仕事に行こうと管理人室の前を通ると、何やら私がエコバッグに添えたメモだけが置いてある・・・ なんだろう、と思って手に取ると、なんと持ち主からのお返事でした。
『無事に受け取りました！拾っていただいてありがとうございました☺！』
とのこと。
持ち主からのお手紙も、☺つきでした。
思わぬお返事にちょっと和んだので、投稿しました。
