2 Timothy 1: 6
"Therefore I advise you to fan the fire of the gift of God that is in you"
We can call our desire to serve the Lord and our passion to do his will as fire, that is, each of us as children of God possesses his Holy Spirit, and we can call it as fire, my desire to serve the Lord, if they are many, fan that fire inside me, the love that I have for the Father and his work, fan the fire inside me, and so on with everything related to our Lord.
Each of us has been given a task and that is to constantly fan that fire that burns within us, why? Easy we run the risk of that fire goes out and if that happens we will lose the support of a wonderful Being, who is willing to give us everything, only if we serve him and do not let that fire go out.
How to fan that fire? Well, God has given us tools to strengthen ourselves in the Spirit, what are they?
The following:
- The prayer: to be in constant communion with God is a requirement so that this fire never goes out, on the contrary, every day it will grow if we ask the Lord to help us keep it and keep it.
- The word of God: written this, not only man will live on bread, but every word that comes out of the mouth of God, and the mouth of God is his word (the bible), it helps us to meditate on it, read it, listen to it, retain it and put it into practice.
- Fasting: putting our body in sacrifice is one of the things that helps that fire rise, since the Lord sees our offering, that is, how we give ourselves to him in body and soul, and with that He rewards us, and also with that we prevent the enemy's darts from entering our mind, see it that way, we go into a fast, we offer our body and then the reward is new strength and more desire to serve the Lord.
With this always in mind that fire that we carry inside will not go out, it will not stop, but will continue to grow.
