Portfolio: £127,930.00

Well today turned out to be a more frantic day than I expected. I always start days looking at my portfolio and making sure I’m happy with everything before doing the rounds on Twitter, Telegram and YouTube to see if there’s anything I need to be aware of. There was nothing pressing so I figured it would be a quiet day, which it was until XRP overtook ETH to second in market cap. Weird to think I was watching XRP at $0.25 or thereabouts all through 2017 and now it’s over $2. Shows that even coins with huge market caps can still double quickly.

I then had a Telegram alert that XLM usually pumps after Ripple does, so I went against all my newfound training and FOMOed in at the top of a green candle – a schoolboy error. I figured though that the pump would be bigger than it was, but it died immediately before slowly coming back to life and allowing me to exit with about £10 profit for all that stress. I’m terrible at trading, I knew I was, and yet STILL I fell victim to FOMO and went against the preachings of my crypto strategy – buy and hodl good coins and sell for profit down the line. Infuriating, and another lesson, but at least I didn’t get burned.

With some ETH free I decided to buy some EOS to put in my 2018 moon bag and offer some stability in my portfolio. I hear good things about it, so let’s see. I spent about 75% of what was supposed to be a working day researching and looking for new opportunities when my boss wasn’t looking, settling eventually on SHIFT which one of my gurus says should pump soon. I’ll set a stop loss to avoid losing out, although it’s already gone 100% in 24 hours so what can it really do again? Seriously, just a few weeks ago if a coin had pumped 100% you left it well alone. These days though it can go again and again. I was on my Telegram group a lot today, and a guy who has made some astonishing calls recently threw up another one – FDX. I launched immediately into this one, using up all the rest of my free ETH to get it on EtherDelta, and also some more VEE. I also found a random 0.1 ETH on EtherDelta so bought some NAS which could have a big future. All this meant quite a lot of restructuring of my portfolio spreadsheet on Google Drive, but it’s nice to see it all looking as it should. I perhaps have too many coins, but some 25% are pump and dumpers so they won’t last long.

VEN is also pushing over $2 but the whales are STILL blocking progress. Binance have launched a contest to win a BMW to someone who buys more than 1BTC worth of VEN which might help to shift the whales, and there’s rumours of a PBOC tie up which would just be immense. Announcement expected today.

With it approaching New Year there shouldn’t be too much to expect over the next four days, but then I thought that on Christmas day and ICX exploded so who knows.

Today’s lesson: I am NOT, and never will be, a day trader. Don’t FOMO into coins after the event.
