Portfolio: £278,863.41

Slight retraction to the market as expected after the recent recovery and with it being a weekend – hopefully gearing up for another run. BTC seems to have settled around $12k which is encouraging, although if it’s nearer $10k than $12k come Monday morning we could be in for some rough weather again.

With the option of cashing out potentially becoming a reality, it’s made me think more about my strategy. While cashing out wasn’t an option it was easy to view my portfolio as ‘fake’ money and treat it as such, but seeing it come into bank as actual pounds and pence has already altered my perception of it and how seriously I’m treating it. Suddenly, it’s real, and it’s a lot of money. To this end, when something like TEL hits a sell order and I make £16k in one go, there are suddenly two option available – do I reinvest or do I, say, pay off my student loan? Do I put this five ETH into an ICO or do I get the new boiler I so badly need? In short, do I lock it up for a few weeks and potentially make 5x or do I take what I’ve got and make a difference to my day to day life? Of course the answer is a balance of the two, and so if my trial works and I can get money into my bank with relative ease, I’ll probably earmark a couple of coins to sell for cash rather than selling to reinvest. This then throws my aim to make a million into doubt, given that I will be taking out money that would have helped me get there, but it would be silly to leave everything in the crypto-sphere with the ever-present risk of losing it all. What it might make me do is go bigger into the ICOs I have the most faith in and do further digging for some low cap gems to maximise my returns.

On the subject if ICOs, I ended up contributing 3 ETH to MedicalChain through the BB group and doing KYC checks for Bee token. I was also able to register for GoNetwork, which is probably the one I’ll go biggest one. I also need to remember to keep some money back for WAN when it launches, hopefully next week. I have a feeling the 7 BTC I have managed to amass will be shredded in quick order!

MINING UPDATE

My LUX mining has continued really well, generating my about 0.6 LUX a day. It just sits there patiently whirring away in the garage, to the point where I only need to check it a couple of times a day to make sure it’s still functioning fine. LUX had a little push up to $40 recently which was nice. Apparently the difficulty only increases with more miners, and seeing as numbers wise LUX isn’t a very attractive coin due to the low amount generated per day it may not get that much more difficult, which with the price going up (some well-versed analysts predict the low hundreds) it really could be a nice little earner, so much so that I’m considering adding another graphics card via a USB riser. With my INN masternode paying out nicely, I’m building a nice little source of extra income for the lean times. I need to see whether my SMART masternode is worth it when the first payment comes out, which may not be until the end of next month. If not I’ll just sell the coins and look elsewhere.
