Speaking in tongues is one of the powerful and spiritual gifts of the holy spirit. Bro Eli Soriano made us to understand that Speaking in tongues means speaking in a particular language different from your mother tongue or the language you are been trained with.
Speaking in tongues is not a new thing, it has been in existence since Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and promised to send the holy spirit to the Apostles, and one of the gifts that the holy spirit brought to the Apostles is the gift of Speaking in tongues.
Acts 2:7-8
(7) And there were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
(8) And how hear we every man in our own tongue, where in we were born?
Speaking in tongues is not something that's learned, it's a gift from God. In today's Church, we see people speaking in tongues but in a language that's not in existence. Some open a school were speaking in tongues are taught, making joke of the holy spirit.
As christians, we should not joke with the holy spirit, we all have our different gifts of the holy spirit, there are people with the gift of interpretation, they hear and interpret the language of those who speak in tongues, and many other gifts.
As believers, let us try and find out our different gifts which the holy spirit has given us, rather than imposing on ourselves the gifts that's not ours.
