The prevalence of the lack of engagement in the Steemit Community nowadays pains a lot.
I want to do something. I need to be a FRIEND. Now, I would tackle about my Steemit #ccc of being a friend.
COMMITMENT
The best way to make good friends is to be a good friend.
One needs to accept the responsibility of being a friend. That involves a commitment—you feel an obligation to care about your friend(s). Most friendships flourish when companions are committed, or feel some obligation, to each other.
This kind of commitment is what we need in this platform. I am commited to interact with my fellow Steemians, in order for them to feel that somebody is around, somebody is noticing them, and somebody is enjoying their work--whether they are showcasing their photography skills, their writing prowess, or their painting/drawing talent.
I feel obligated to save some from leaving this platform, to make them feel that somebody cares.
COMMUNICATION
Good communication breathes life into a friendship.
Good friends speak freely but respectfully to each other. Regarding the way we should communicate with others, the Bible tells us: “Let your utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt.”--Colossians 4:6.
Good friends value each other’s opinion, so communication between them needs to be both gracious and forthright.
Thus, communication is a catalyst to forging strong friendship. Like any other friendship, we need to communicate with each other here in the community.
CARE
The key to success in all human relations is unselfish love.
Jesus Christ, in the Bible, once said: “Just as you want men to do to you, do the same way to them.” (Luke 6:31) This teaching has come to be known in our modern day as the Golden Rule. Yes, the only way to have real friends is to be an unselfish, giving friend ourselves. To be successful, friendship must be more about giving than about getting. We must be prepared to put our friend’s needs ahead of our own preferences and convenience. We need to care.
I am noticing that these three qualities are lacking in our community. But, we need not tell other what to do. I should do it myself first, then perhaps others may follow. GOLDEN RULE.
