Leyte, Philippines is infested with Schistosoma Japonica larva. This parasite, which is as small as a grain of rice, enters the body by penetrating the pores of the skin.
Symptoms that a victim is carrying this parasite is headache, abnominal pain, rashes, cough, fever, and even bloody stools.
I have been nursing a headache and cough these past few weeks. And since this disease is endemic in Leyte, I went to a nearby District Health Clinic so that I can take praziquantel.
I was weighed and was given 3 1/2 tablets. I took the medicine and felt dizzy after two hours and went to sleep for the whole day. They say that if you do not feel anything after taking, you do not have a parasite. But since I feel dizzy, it only means I have it on my body.
Le sigh. 馃槩
