Hello guys! Sunday's Service was really awesome. We had a revival programme in our church which I attend. It was a four days programme which started on Thursday evening and ended on Sunday morning.
The programme was divided into two sessions each day. Sequencing the arrangements of the programme, each men of God came up with messages in line with the theme of the programme which was "THE POWER AT WORK IN ME".
I was really blessed by the messages and ministration from the men of God that ministered each day. Moreover, the one that really touched my heart was yesterday's morning message.
The speaker of yesterday's morning message was Evangelist Samuel Bassey Owoh. His topic in line with the theme if the programme was "WHERE DOES YOUR GREAT STRENGTH LIE?
At first, when the man of God presented his topic, it sounded like a rhetorical question because I had to ponder about it until the man of God started unveiling where the strength of a Christian or a child of God lies.
The message was derived from the book of judges chapter 16 verse 6 which says
"And Delilah said to Samson,Tell me,
I pray thee, wherein the great strength
lieth, and where with thou mightest be
bound to afflict there".(kJV)
The man of God used Samson as his case study to show that every Christian who is genuinely born again has where his or her strength lies.
Before I go further, let me define strength.
According to Advance dictionary, strength is defined as the property of being physically or mentally strong. It is also the capability in terms of personal and materiel that affect the capacity to fight a war.
It was revealed that Samson's strength was in his hair. He was a Nazarite and had never tempered with his hair from birth. The love he had for Delilah the prostitute (Judges 16 verse 1) made him disclose the secret of his strength to her. Delilah betrayed Samson by exposing the secret of strength to the Philistines which led to Samson's downfall.
It was emphasised that Samson used his mouth to pronounce negativity over his life by saying
"They hath not come a razor upon mine
head; if I be shaved, then my strength
will go from me and I shall become
weak and be like any other man"
(Judges 16 verse 17)
This statement of his showed negativity which had a great part to playing his downfall.
** I was let to know that the words that comes out of our mouth are very powerful and our enemies capitalise on every negative words we speak. As believers,we should always speak positive things.
** Secondly, there are many situation we face, not to destroy us but to awaken the giant in us.
Looking at the story of Samson, his hair which was the source of his strength was shaved and he was weak. This alone awoke the giant in him when his hair grew again. He could fight and slay the Philistines even when he was blind.
The man of God went further to say the following:
** There is something you carry that can change your situation.
** Your power lies in who you are and not what you are.
** The power of a believer lies in knowing who Jesus is (Acts chapter 17 verse 28)
** What you are is as a result of the authentic relationship you have with Christ (1st John 4:17)
** Understanding who you are, makes you know your boundary as a Christian.
In conclusion, the engine room for this strength is through:
** medication: meditating the word of God releases the strength and power(James 1:8, Philippians 4:8)
** prayers: prayers activate the strength
(Acts 1:8, James 5:16-18) Amplified version
With all this from God through his servant, I now know where my strength as a Christian lies.
