I will try to put this as simply as possible, if you are not emotionally stable, life will be difficult.

Emotional stability is very vital to living a good life, reason being is that without it, you would be prone to a lot of emotional breakdowns, which could spiral and ruin a whole season (or even more) of your life. Having emotional stability is the equivalent of being able to take and withstand punch, also remain grounded, and not panic. Today, after so many years of being emotionally unstable, I'd like to share with us, some tips adopted in fighting emotional instability.

My Tips For Gaining Emotional Stability

Emotional stability is quite similar to resilience as both terms involves more of being able to withstand hardship, only that one relates more to emotions. I once wrote an article on how to be resilient,( I didn't publish it) it focused simply on on staying active and getting back up soon after you have gotten knocked down real hard. Well, this article would center more on taking life’s little or smaller punches and jabs without having to loose your balance. The moment you lose your balance for reason of being emotionally unstable, you stand at a greater risk of getting knocked down and this time knocked out.

Warren Buffet once said

The key to success is emotional stability

So here's how I manage to keep in composure when my emotions hits hard.

  • Adjust your perspective:

You can do this by focusing on the positive opportunities which were introduced by negative events. You could also consider looking at the foundational blessings available in your life in order to get a broader view. We become very vulnerable to emotional turmoil the moment we focus only on the negative things.

  • Check your expectations

Does these apply to you, an expectation of a smooth, and predictable life of goodness? Well, it has never and would never happen to anyone. So the next time something bad happens to you, just think of it as a challenge rather than a huge problem. Just be ready for the challenges, and they would not be able to catch you off guard.

  • Create an action plan

This is basically the counterattack. We really can't just take punches and then expect to win. We really have to punch back! Getting on the offensive is the very first way to prove to life that you are not scared, neither are you weak. Don't get me wrong, as we all do sometimes. But then even if you feel scared and weak, when you take action, it would build your confidence simultaneously and create exciting new opportunities.
