Hello my wonderful friends ❤ of this great community.
It is incredible how the ideas that we have preconceived, can modify our character and therefore our way of acting. So much so that they influence our decisions and the way we treat others.
I was thinking about this, because a few days ago I went out with my son, and someone I know commented that because I had put that pink shirt , that color was for girls .
At that moment I was indignant because my son heard that comment and told me I like my shirt mom, I don't wear girls clothes. And I told him that's right son , you are a boy , you don't wear girls clothes and pink can be worn by boys and girls .
My son's wardrobe is arranged in such a way that he can have the clothes he wants to wear.
Of course, I always check what he is going to wear so that it matches the occasion.
I've been doing some research on the subject of colors 💙💗
In the nineteenth century babies were dressed in white as it was related to purity, as time went by pink and light blue were used to label boys and girls. But things are not as we thought, at the beginning pink was assigned to boys because it was linked to the color red and this represents strength, passion, and girls were assigned sky blue because it was considered delicate, subtle.
Then in the early twentieth century, large U.S. companies, enter into a dilemma, because in all states a survey was conducted for the assignment of color to different genders, the opinions were contrary and varied in many states and came to the final decision by the majority of votes, and so it was that the assignment was made.
I think that in certain cultures, machismo, homophobia and no tolerance for differences, disrespect for other people's decisions have been imposed.
I am a person with Christian values and I teach my son according to my point of view what I believe and consider to be good, but this does not go against the respect to other people.
I think that the man who made that comment was raised in a macho family , maybe even homophobic and somehow made him understand and believe that by wearing a color that would diminish his sexuality or his condition as a man .
It is for this reason that sometimes we have to analyze what kind of thoughts or preconceived ideas we have, because if we do not unlearn certain ideas to learn new ones, we will be repeating cycles and passing a chain of wrong information to our children, and according to what they have learned so they will treat humanity.
My son can dress in any color he wants and for me he will always look like a real stud. The fact that he dresses in any color he wants is not a declaration to the world of his sexuality.
A long time ago when my dad died, many people in my family criticized me for not wearing black, they felt I had to show the world something, in this case my feelings. I didn't feel the need to do it and with this I am not saying that it is wrong to do it and I respect those who do it, with this I mean that I personally carried my mourning internally, I felt that my clothes did not reflect in any way all that torrent of emotions that I had. So I ignored it and lived my mourning as I felt best.
I reflect on the fact and I also remember that when I decided to study my career in gas engineering and I did my internships, most of the operators conditioned the career for the male gender and I thought it can not be, I studied so much for these men to think that I am not suitable for being a woman.
I felt very bad but then I showed them that I was very capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
When we see this kind of situations that are out of the ordinary, people doing things different from what we are used to see, because we were sold the idea that each gender has a color and a pattern of behavior, then at that moment we are like that man who told my son that pink is for girls.
Let's accept the differences and encourage tolerance to them.
