Lisa hasn’t been out for quite a while. With the Covid-pandemic still looming she had plenty of time to get over her ex-husband Richard during the lockdown period. She realized that she could be happy on her own, and she didn’t need a man to do things for her.
After eighteen years of marriage, it was quite a blow when Richard told her that he was leaving her. She really struggled in the beginning, but she came out much stronger and felt more independent than ever.
The divorce had been finalized just before the lockdown, so it was wonderful to have the house all to herself. There was no one to boss her around, and she could do whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. She has made quite a few improvements to her life ever since their divorce.
She had always thought that they had a perfect marriage, but evidently, she was wrong. She caught him cheating on her, and after that, he confessed to cheating on her a few times during their marriage.
That was the end of the story. She filed for divorce and took everything that she could get. She never wanted to see him again.
She lost all her respect for him in one single day.
Now that the lockdown is over, her friends had been bugging her constantly to go out and meet someone new. It was driving her nuts but eventually, she gave in to please them. It might not be so bad to have a friend to go out with from time to time.
It was just by accident that she was free on Valentine’s day and one of her friends that she met after the divorce, set up the coffee date for her.
She felt quite ridiculous when she walked into the coffee shop. She was a bit early and wanted to plan an escape root if needed. She had absolutely no idea what was waiting for her.
She knew her date would be wearing a white shirt and he will put a white rose on the table.
She picked a table in the corner just opposite the side entrance, and ordered coffee. She was just about to take the first sip when she looked up and saw a man in a white shirt entering the shop.
He had a white rose in his hand, and she nearly dropped her cup when she realized who it was.
She was in total shock. Right at the door stood Richard. He looked desperate and different. He dyed his hair pitch black, and she could see that he was trying his best to look as young as possible.
She had to get out of there as fast as possible without him seeing her, and she just left money on the table and slipped out the side door.
She didn’t feel a thing as she stood there watching when he was placed at a table waiting for a date that was not going to show.
She made a mental note not to listen to any of her friends again. She drove to the nearest MacDonald’s and ordered a takeaway milkshake, hamburger, and fries.
She would rather spend time with Ronald MacDonald than waste her time on a loser ever again!
