According to many philosophers, humans have free will to do as they please and not all behaviour is determined. This has always been a very difficult concept for me to understand.
I firmly believe that everything works out the way it is supposed to but there are times where I go against my own belief.
Religiously, I have my own norms and values and I believe God has a plan for
all of us. He knows exactly what is going to happen to us before it even happens.
We just have to go along with the ride. We can literally just sit back and relax,
and our lives will still continue the way it should.
Sometimes we meet certain people in our lives that plays a role in fulfilling our destiny and we don’t have a choice in this matter. Sometimes we land in places where we don’t usually go and often in these places, we meet people that change our lives forever.
Ever heard of being in the right place at the right time?
I honestly don’t think that we have a choice in who we meet and what the reasons may be, so free- will doesn’t play a role there, however, according to me, it plays a role when it comes to making choices.
We have the freedom to choose between right and wrong, but we can only choose between right and wrong if we have the knowledge and a basic guideline to work from.
We all have our own values and ideas of what is wrong and what is right, but without a religious guideline that clearly tells us what is wrong or right, how on earth can we make these decisions?
If everything is predetermined, why are we given choices then? This whole concept of free will baffles me and might never really make sense to me.
If and when I decide to do something, is it out of my own free will, or was it predetermined?
What is the reason behind choices then?
If you do something indespicable, was it actually predetermined? If there is then
no use in making choices, why make it them at all and not just wait and see
what happens?
Is there any hope for free will? Are we really controlled by biological factors and our environment?
