Like every other morning I woke up just before 6 o'clock to write my blog. I set my alarm for 5h45 and then I have my morning ritual before I finally sit down to start writing. I feel much more inspired early in the morning and I'm much more alert than later in the day. But today was different.
On my way to the bathroom this morning I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Staring back at me was a totally different person.
I literally went from twenty four to forty eight in one night! I don't feel older....but the signs are definitely there. I don't have many wrinkles but my goodness, I found a grey hair!!! No, let me rephrase. It is not a GREY hair, it is a WHITE hair!
I have never been bothered with age and believe that age is just a number. You only act as old as you feel. But turning grey is a different story. What does that mean?
Is it time to start planning for retirement?
It is NOT that I feel older, because sometimes I don't even feel like a grownup. I still want to play with Lego's and I still want to tell my children stories, and sometimes I just want to lay on the grass and look at the clouds and make up little pictures in my head...
BUT this grey hair made me think of my real age this morning. It set off a series of thoughts and it left me with a few real questions.
Have I reached enough goals in my life?
Have I made enough of a difference in other people's lives?
Does life only really start to make sense after forty?
We work too hard and life passes by. Let this weekend be different!
Be a child again this weekend. Don't look in the mirror and lay down on the grass to see pictures in the clouds. Don't forget to live while you still have the chance.
Tomorrow might be too late....
One day when you wake up, and look in the mirror, your problems might not be solved as easily as mine with a plug of a tweezer.
May you have a blessed weekend! (I'm off to the hairdresser)
