This week in Splinterlands was definitely the week of card reveals. We had the next airdrop for Rift Watchers revealed as well as the next airdrop for Chaos Legion. As a bonus we also got to see the art for the promo card related to the ongoing Chaos Legion pack promotion.
Let's start with the stats and potential strats for the next RW airdrop.
The Ancient Redwood seems to be related to the Ettins in LotR (or any other huge, animate, tree-flinging, angry tree 😁) and is basically the ultimate Taunt Monster killer. It's rather pricey in mana terms but for the 11 mana it costs, it offers at level 1 - 5 Ranged Attack, 1 Speed, 9 Health and it has the True Strike ability. Having True Strike is very important cause it means that this Monster will be useable not only in Reverse Speed battles but also in regular ones as it is certain to land right on target every tree it throws. At level 2 it gains Reflection Shield, which means it could be placed strategically in battles with the Blast ruleset, it also gains an extra health point. Now level 3 is the level to be at for sure as this is when it gains an additional Ranged Attack point but more importantly, it gains the Fury ability which enables it to inflict double damage to Monsters with the taunt ability. That is actually pretty huge against Monsters such as the Coeurl Lurker which rely heavily on their speed to dodge enemy attacks. And finally at level 4 it also gains Piercing which just adds insult to the injury already inflicted to the Taunt Monsters, as it makes the Ancient Redwood even more effective against Monsters with Armor. It is a pretty interesting Monster overall and it definitely opens up more line-ups to play with Summoners such as Fernheart.
Now for the long-awaited next Legendary CL Summoner..
Possibilus might look like a dragon, but he (?) is actually a leviathan coming from the future and he is here to grant all Water Monsters +2 Health and all Water Melee Monsters the Trample and Reach abilities. I am not really sure about this Summoner, and I really need to see it in action in the current meta in order to give my verdict on its usefulness. It really does seem rather niche to me right now but I might be very wrong on that. I mean.. you can never go wrong with +2 Health, and Trample could be great with Overpowered killers such as the Deeplurker, cause Deeplurker + Opportunity Strike + Trample could do wonders in a lot of cases, however, the Reach ability is what makes me a bit less excited. Yeah, it's not that bad, you can use some pretty powerful melee Monsters in the 2nd spot which otherwise would not be able to hit from there but I'm still not convinced. We might actually get over the 11M mark today or tomorrow so we are really close to seeing this leviathan dragon-wannabe in action. 😉
Next on the list is our promo salty bear - Arkemis with his initial art
Well no wonder it got changed the day after the Town Hall because he really looks like a very angry rat rather than a salty bear in this picture.
It's always nice when they listen to the community and react quickly. Unfortunately we do not have the stats for our future favorite bear yet but Nate did mention he was 11 or 12 mana so that definitely means that he will have some large stats in accordance with his large, fluffy and salty body.
