Moral and normative issues serves as the background to the study of development. Development is a buzz word that defies unanimous definition. However, when it comes to standards of society, there seems to be an agreement of what an ideal society should constitute and so any deviation from this standard needs to be looked-into and questioned. An ideal society is the one where the right to live, food, shelter, is guaranteed. Despite all the resource at the worlds disposal, there's deviation from this what is termed as an ideal society. Debilitating disease and deaths amidst scientifically and medically advanced world. The emergence of Covid-19 pandemic shows that the world has become nothing but a paradox of itself. Noe one could imagine that a scientifically advance world would be brought to its knees by a pandemic. The scientific world is more advance than ever. There is more scientific discoveries than ever, new medicines are been discovered everyday yet, the millions are dying and this highly advance world cannot match the havoc of the pandemic.

Grinding poverty in the midst of plenty wealth. The world has not been richer than it is now yet, income inequality has also become widening to the extent, that, billions wallow in abject poverty. Poverty like development is a buzz word that defies unanimous definition . The World economy of 1% is far richer than the bottom half of humanity. The size of the economy of Africa is as small as Belgium. The quality of life in Africa and the other part of the world keeps on widening despite the wealth of the world. There's also starvation and hunger in the abundance of foods yet, millions dies out of starvation everyday in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Sustainable development paradox Despite more education and information about sustainability of our resources , the world continues on a trajectory where the resources are been destroyed and generations yet unborn are those to suffer the consequence. The world keeps on whining about climate change and other sustainable developments yet, it is not ready to genuinely fight against it. The political elites and wealthy business men are not ready to commit resource into it.
To conclude,Never in the history of the world has it seen soo much wealth, food, technological advancement, and scientific discoveries yet, it has become paradoxical when it comes to development and as such, something should be done to correct this anomality.
