"In my country, we long to rise towards the horizon," this idea resonated in my mind as I walked the streets of Santiago de Cuba. I stopped to look at the buildings, marveling at their architecture.
"En mi país, buscamos ascender a los cielos", resonó esta idea en mi mente mientras recorría las calles de Santiago de Cuba. Me detuve a contemplar los edificios, maravillándome ante su arquitectura.
Little by little, true architectural gems began to reveal themselves to me, which unfortunately are in a state of abandonment and deterioration.
Poco a poco, comenzaron a revelarse ante mí verdaderas joyas arquitectónicas que lamentablemente se encuentran en estado de abandono y deterioro.
This is a reality that Cubans face, where the lack of resources and the need for financing make their restoration an almost insurmountable challenge.
Esta es una realidad que enfrenta el cubano, donde la falta de recursos y la necesidad de financiamiento hacen que la restauración de estos sea un desafío casi insuperable.
The buildings are witnesses of our history, but over time nature has begun to reclaim its space, leaving its mark on these forgotten places.
Los edificios son testigos de nuestra historia, pero con el tiempo la naturaleza ha comenzado a reclamar su espacio, dejando su impronta en estos lugares olvidados.
We all aspire to elevate ourselves in some way; We are all looking for a positive change in our lives.
Todos aspiramos a ascender de alguna forma; todos buscamos un cambio positivo en nuestras vidas.
Looking at these roofless buildings, I feel like heaven is closer than ever. The image of my city, worn by time, resembles a poem that decomposes, and I can only appreciate it through the eyes of a poet and share these images with you.
Al observar estos edificios sin techos, siento que el cielo está más cerca que nunca. La imagen de mi ciudad, desgastada por el tiempo, se asemeja a un poema que se descompone, y yo solo puedo apreciarla a través de la mirada de un poeta y compartir estas imágenes con ustedes.
