Droidcam is an application that will allow us to use our smartphone as a webcam with a microphone included. Using it in wifi mode is the easiest, but its performance will not be as good compared to using it through the USB port.
Droidcam es un aplicativo que nos permitirá usar nuestro smartphone como una webcam con micrófono incluido. Usarlo en el modo wifi, es el mas sencillo, pero su rendimiento no será tan bueno comparado cuando lo usamos a través del puerto USB.
It is possible that it is the first time you try to use it with the USB cable, that you get errors, or that it is not so easy in a first attempt. Here in this guide I will give you details how to make it work this way without dying in the attempt. Let's see in detail the steps to follow from scratch.
Posiblemente sí es primera vez que intentas usarlo con el cable USB, te aparezcan errores, o no sea tan sencillo en un primer intento. Acá en esta guía te daré detalles como hacerlo funcionar de esta manera sin morir en el intento. Veamos con detalles los pasos a seguir desde cero.
1st: Download and Install client and app / Descargar e Instalar cliente y app
We must install the Droidcam client on our PC and the app on our smartphone.
Debemos instalar el cliente Droidcam en nuestro PC y la app en nuestro smartphone.Para descargar el cliente, nos dirigimos a su página oficial.
Additionally, and this is of utmost importance so that we do not have problems when using the USB option. It is a matter of downloading the appropriate ADB drivers from our smartphone. On the official Droidcam website, we recommend this one where we can surely get the right one, in case we don't have it:

In my case I am using a KripK6, and the generic driverADB, downloaded from the same page mentioned above, worked very well.
En mi caso estoy usando un KripK6, y me funcionó muy bien el driver genéricoADB, descargado de la misma página comentada anteriormente.
Of course we must also find and install the Droidcam in our smartphone. You can locate it from the PlayStore.

2nd: Enable "Developers Options" in Android / Habilitar “Opciones del Programador” en Android
To enable the "Developers Options" on our Android device, we must do the following:
Para Habilitar las "Opciones delProgramador" en nuestro dispositivo Android, debemos hacer lo siguiente:
- Open the Settings or Configuration, and select "System ->About Device".
- Abrir los Ajustes o Configuración, y seleccionar “Sistema ->Acerca del Dispositivo”
- Then click repeatedly on "Compilation number", you may be asked to enter your smartphone password, and then a message should appear saying "You are now a programmer!
- Luego pulsar repetidas veces en “Número de compilación”, posiblemente nos pida ingresar la contraseña de nuestro teléfono inteligente, y después debe aparecernos un mensaje indicando “¡Ya eres programador!”.
- Now we go back to the previous menu and select "Programmer Options". Once there we will activate the option "Debugging by USB".
- Ahora vamos hacia atrás, para dirigirnos hacia el menú anterior, y debemos seleccionar “Opciones del Programador”. Una vez allí vamos a activar la opción “Depuración Por USB”.
3rd: Using Droidcam / Usar Droidcam
Now we are going to use the application, we connect the cell phone to the PC through the USB port. If we run the ADB driver (at least in my case the generic one), a console screen will open, where we will notice the ADB start, and device recognition, although it says 0 found.
Ahora vamos a utilizar el aplicativo, Conectamos el celular al PC a través del puerto USB. Sí ejecutamos el driver ADB (por lo menos en mi caso el genérico), se abrirá una pantalla de consola, donde notaremos el inicio ADB, y reconocimientodel dispositivo, aunque dice 0 encontrados.
This is happened, since at the same time a message appeared in the cellular, where it will be necessary to assign him permissions to use it in our PC, reason why I recommend you if it is your personal pc to select "Always allow from this computer" and then "Accept".
Esto se debe, ya que al mismo tiempo aparecióun mensaje en el celular, donde será necesario asignarle permisos para usarlo en nuestra PC, por lo que te recomiendo si es tu pc personalseleccionar "Permitir siempre desde esta computadora" y luego “Aceptar”.
After giving permissions from our cell phone, we close and open again the ADB driver, now we can notice that it has recognized and found the device.
Después de dar permisos desde nuestro teléfono celular, sícerramos y abrimos nuevamente el driver ADB, ahora podemos notar que ha reconocido y encontradoel dispositivo. Al ver esto, el aplicativo está listo para funcionar.
Now we open the Droidcam from our cell phone, and in our PC (in my case I got a message that access was denied, we ignore it).
Ahora abrimos el Droidcam desde el celular, y en nuestraPC (en mi caso me apareció un mensaje de acceso denegado, lo ignoramos).
From Windows, we will have three ways of connection, we will select (1) icon of USB, (2) the options of audio and video activated. Possibly it does not show me any device, (3) so we press the button of "Update", and now yes it will appear in the listing our the cellular one (in my case k6). Finally, (4) we press the "Start" button.
Desde Windows, vamos a tenertres formas de conexión, vamos a seleccionar(1)icono de USB,(2) las opciones de audio y video activadas. Posiblemente no me muestre ningún dispositivo, (3)así que pulsamos el botón de “Actualizar”, y ahora sí aparecerá en el listado nuestro el celular (en mi caso k6). Por último, (4)pulsamos el botón “Start”.
We should already have the image from our camera, in the PC and in the smart phone. With this we could already use our device in Skype, VLC, or any other application that allows the use of a camera.
Ya debemos tener la imagen de nuestra cámara, en la PC y en el teléfono inteligente. Con esto ya pudiésemos usar nuestro dispositivo en Skype, VLC, o cualquier otra aplicación que permita el uso de una cámara.
EXTRA DATA / Dato EXTRA
Another test that we can do to validate that our device has been recognized, is the following. We open from the console the directory "c:\Program Files (x86)\Droidcam\adb". And we write the command "adbdevices -l"
Otra prueba que podemos hacer para validar que nuestro dispositivo ha sido reconocido, es la siguiente.Abrimos desde consola el directorio “c:\Program Files (x86)\Droidcam\adb”. Y escribimos el comando“adbdevices -l”
We will be able to see if you recognized the device, since it will appear in the list of aggregates, and the data corresponding to the cell phone.
If we type only "adb", we can see all the commands available to use.
There are many options, in my case I have not used them, but if you wish you can test them.
Lograremos ver si reconoció el dispositivo, ya que aparecerá en la lista de agregados, y los datos correspondientes al celular.

EXAMPLE / EJEMPLO 1: VLC
Before doing the example, of course we make sure we have image from Droidcam. Then we open the VLC player and do the following.
In "Video device name" and in "Audio device name" we select Droicam if we want it and click on the "Play" button.
