I was in the car that would take me to a supermarket, I needed to buy some groceries. When I was arriving at the avenue that corresponds to leaving the urbanization where I live, I realized that there was a big smoke in the sky.
I immediately brought up my thoughts of other times when I had experienced the same thing and I remembered that on another occasion they had burned the dry grass in the lagoon and this took a great height and breadth of the land and burned a large area of dry grass.
The same thing was happening, when we were about to move towards the avenue and the smoke was thick, I asked the cab driver to turn to the right and then take the road again and he did so. I was able to observe more closely how the fire took the place.
This was before, many years ago a lagoon where the government's bad dispositions changed everything, they thought of draining all the waste from the urbanization into the small lagoon and they did it.
There in that lagoon, many beautiful birds now move to other places. It makes me very sad when I can see that the birds go to the garbage dumps to eat what they can and to the drainage channels to get tadpoles and other small reptiles in the dirty water.
The birds are displaced by the amount of dirt in what used to be a natural lagoon with water falling from the sky.
To continue with the works of man, from time to time man proceeds to burn the dry grasses to alleviate their view of the thick undergrowth. They do it the easy way, by burning. They do not use their strength to clear with a machete in hand or other utensils capable of cutting the thick undergrowth.
The man in his bad intention does not realize his idiocy when he burns these large extensions of dry brush, it also takes away the green grass, the birds and reptiles that have their nests there, and their small defenseless children. They also throw into the environment the most terrible environmental pollution causing respiratory problems to the most defenseless and exposed people.
It is unfortunate how we are to blame for our illnesses and the environmental change caused by our bad behavior.
It is not the first time I see such an atrocity against the environment and I am afraid I will continue to see it. I have never heard of these environmental assassins being apprehended.
When my son and I returned from grocery shopping, the fire was already diminishing. I don't think any fire department unit arrived, they also have many limitations to provide service.
Since the water service here is restricted and water does not come regularly from the aqueduct.
The breeze from the natural environment blew all the smoke from the sky to leave the burnt plant debris in a large expanse of what was once a beautiful natural lagoon.
I love nature in all its expressions, I took these photos while the vehicle was moving to avoid the smoke crash. In a short time nature itself will try to reestablish itself again regardless of the damage we caused it, but everything has a consequence.
