Zeth was in Salt Lake City attending an invitation to a conference on world religions and the presence of evil. He took the opportunity to accept an invitation from his friend Thomas and his family for a good barbecue.
Everything was going great until the cell phone rang. It was his wife Lucy who was in Sweden, visiting her sister Gudny who seemed to have some serious problems.
His wife in the call expressed alarmingly that something strange was happening at a neighbor's house of his sister Gudny and no one knew how to solve it, that it was possibly a case for him and that he should move immediately.
Zeth told Thomas what was happening and asked for his help in obtaining a ticket to travel as soon as possible. Thomas agreed to support him and within minutes they knew he would be leaving first thing in the morning. For the moment he would enjoy the food, which was spectacular, accompanied by a good cold coffee that was like for gods; the flight would be long, about 19 hours and he should do things calmly.
After the marathon journey, Zeth finally met Lucy and Gudny's family who lived in a huge house surrounded by a spectacle of scenery that delighted the eyes.
Once Zeth had finished staying and bathing he sat down with the family to find out what was going on, why had they called him so urgently?
Gudny's husband, who we'll call Erik, told her that he and some friends were doing carpentry work at a neighbor's house and strange things were happening in that house that they thought were paranormal.
-Where do you get that from, friend Erik? -asked Zeth.
Erik replied that every day they started the day at the neighbor's house to repair the roof and some internal parts of the house. Since the house was quite large, the work took some time.
But that was not the problem, the problem was that every time it was time for the fika during the day, the coffee disappeared.
Maria, the lady of the house, would prepare coffee with some snacks for the fika, but when the workers approached the table in the back yard facing the forest, the coffee would disappear. That happened every day right around fika time.
Zeth, expressed that this could not be something paranormal, it had not been documented that an entity stole the coffee and even less so several times a day, but it did call his attention to what was happening and he promised to look for an answer.
-Why would a paranormal entity be busy taking the brewed coffee and not eating the more appetizing snacks? -Zeth wondered.
The next day everyone set out on their day, Maria was in charge of preparing the coffee and snacks and Zeth would keep an eye on everything from a place where no one would know his location; this with the purpose of hunting down the presumed spirit coffee thief.
Zeth was sure that the thief was in the group, that more than a being from beyond, it was a living, malicious being that took advantage of not being seen to drink the coffee and thus mock everyone, and that being was an acquaintance who was in the house.
Zeth hid in the basement part of the house and from a window he could see the table where the dishes would be placed along with the coffee. That day there was no robbery.
What had happened?
Why didn't the allegedly paranormal entity appear?
As it turned out, Maria, had stood at the door to watch that no one was taking anything and had plucked up her courage because she knew Zeth was watching too.
Erik got upset and talked to Maria, he told her that if she placed herself in a visible place, the thief spirit would never appear and that made him suspect that she was the one who took the coffee. She rejected the accusation and accepted that she had been reckless, that she would not do it again.
The second day arrived and this time Maria would stay inside the house, Lucy, Zeth's wife, would be in charge of serving the table for the workers at fika time and Zeth would go back into hiding.
Maria and Lucy were not to carry anywhere, if possible they should leave the house.
A few minutes after the table for the fika was served and before the workers arrived, Zeth heard footsteps and saw how a giant shadow covered the table and with lightning speed disappeared.
The position Zeth was in was not the best, he could not see the thief clearly and again they were robbed.
The next day Zeth decided to position himself outside the house and set up cameras to record the moment; this is what they discovered:
The thief was a friendly moose who visited other sectors in search of food, but it seems he had changed his tastes and was now more interested in Maria's coffee.
