Algo no estaba bien.

The air created an unpleasant sanction on the skin and the buzzing in the ear did not leave in peace. Jacinto and Yolanda had met on several occasions. They had been attracted to each other at first glance but had not had the opportunity to talk until he dared to invite her for a walk around town in search of the cool night.
They walked aimlessly, chatting about their lives, tastes, dreams. They realized they had many things in common and felt comfortable with each other. They laughed and looked at each other, and their hands made fleeting encounters. They felt a dawn in their hearts.
They came to a secluded area of town, where there was a large piece of land surrounded by a wall. There was no sign indicating what it was, but it seemed to them a quiet and beautiful place to continue their walk. They entered the grounds. There was a great variety of flowers, some wild and some cultivated. The scent was sweet and intoxicating. There were also some gravestones and crosses scattered about the place, but they paid no attention to them. They thought it was an abandoned garden or a public park.
They looked for a more intimate place where they could kiss. They found a wooden bench under a leafy tree and sat down. They sank into each other's gazes and slowly moved closer. Their lips gently approached each other and then created a fusion. They embraced and touched each other. They forgot the world.
Suddenly, they heard a strange noise. It was like a sharp, metallic thud, echoing in the silence of the night. They separated and became alert. They looked around, trying to identify the origin of the sound. They saw no one and nothing to explain it. They calmed down and thought it might be some animal or some object that had fallen. They kissed again but with less passion and more nervousness.
The noise was repeated, this time louder and closer. They separated again and got up from the bench. Now they were really scared. Something was not right. They held hands and started walking toward the exit of the grounds. But they couldn't remember where they had entered. Everything looked the same to them. Terror overwhelmed them, they realized they were in a cemetery.
The noise was heard again, this time from all sides. They ran, not knowing where to. They stumbled over the graves, they tore, they got dirty. Fear embraced them. They didn't know what it was that stalked them, they only felt it was something terrible, evil.
They reached the wall surrounding the cemetery. They saw it as a salvation. They pushed themselves to jump over it and escape. But something stopped them in mid-air and pulled them. It was invisible and strong. They screamed they struggled, but no one came to their aid.
They fell to the ground. Their bodies were lying on two graves. Their names were engraved on the tombstones. They had been dead for years. But that night, fate had given them a second chance. A chance to meet, to fall in love, to be happy. A short-lived chance. Death always claims its own.
