Hello and welcome to part 11 of my painting miniatures blog in which I post about the paint jobs I've done as a commission painter in the past 5 years. Today I will share with you a commission I did approximately 3 and a half years ago. For a change it is from the Warhammer 40k range, which is the Sci Fi Warhammer world and the army itself is the Chaos Space Marines. For this  job, time was the key factor - the client wanted it done fast so he can use the models as soon as possible. Think in total there were around 60-70 models and I managed to finish all of that in 8-10 days. There was quite a bit of magnetisation done on the characters since 40k has lots of options for weapons and they all matter. I hated doing these commissions just for this fact because everyone wanted all 6-7 options involved in the kit to be applicable, so I had to spend quite a lot of time assembling and then painting 5-6 sets of arms holding different weapons. (It gets quite boring at some point)

Chaos Space Marines

This is I believe a Chaos Space Marine Lord that was part of the starter 40k Kit back then (Dark Vengeance). The starter consisted of 2 small armies for two players to use - Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines. The client wanted a dark colour scheme for the army so instead of black I picked very dark blue and went for gold ornaments.

These are called Vipers and they are pretty mobile units that use close combat power weapons to fight enemies. They can hoover on their jet packs which makes them very fast. The Vipers were part of another Chaos Space Marine bundle that was good value back then (not sure if it is made still).

The Chaos Space Marines are the more basic units of the Chaos army but they are still not used as a bulk of many models. They are quite elite themselves and the models are quite unique too in their posing and looks.

This one was called Aspiring Champion and was a character within a unit in the starter kit. Another close combat unit. It was funny cause the Chaos Space Marines at that time weren't great in game and everyone was joking about them bringing knifes to a gun fight.. (And the warhammer gun fights involve tanks, blasters and rockets).

Now this Chaos Terminator Lord was what I was talking about. See all these different options for weapons? That is kind of what was everyone's request when they asked me to paint their Sci Fi armies. It is a great model none the less and it was the only one with that many options on this commission. Most of the models were from bundles and starters and they don't have as many options in these. (that is what makes the bundle cost less in the end I guess).

The Chaos Marauders reminded me so much of Mad Max and it was just right after the movie was released, that I've painted these models. The martian base made the reference even more obvious. I wish I wasn't so sloppy with the bases when I see them now but I guess I was rushing through it quite a lot.

The Chaos Terminators are the most elite infantry unit in the Chaos Space Marine army. They are almost unkillable and quite the heavy hitters.

The Demon Prince was another model that had a few options to chose from. As you can see I've painted all three options and used magnets to reattach the arm to the body. You can see these characters used in Fantasy as well since the Demon side of Chaos uses the same for both games.
