This will be my next tattoo though. This is St. Lucy - the patron saint of Sicily and the physically or emotionally blind. She was martyred in 304 AD for refusing to marry a pagan man after dedicating her life to Jesus at an early age.
The tradition is said that when she refused to marry, her would be husband turned her into the Romans who sentenced her to defiled in a brothel. They sent oxen to drag her out but God would not let them move her. They attempted to burn her alive and she would not burn. Finally they killed her with swords.
There are two legends about her eyes. One is the Romans removed them and the other is she cut them out herself so that her would be husband wouldn't want her.
She is also associated with a wreath of candles that she wore in the catacombs to hide Christians being persecuted. Her feast day is December 13th and is considered one of the holiest next to Mother Mary. It is said when they went to bury her that her eyes had been restored.
