Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Aimless. This is a unique post as I will be talking about a losing battle. This is the first time I post on losing battle which I find it more meaningful than talking about winning all the time.

Aimless
In an Aimless ruleset, all units have the Scattershot ability. Scattershot effect would then take effect on Ranged and Magic units whereby their attacks would randomly select opposing unit to attack.

Units with Taunt would not be able to draw Ranged and Magic units attack that are affected by Scattershot and Scattershot can target Camouflaged units.

Lets take a look at a Wild Silver ranked match with Aimless as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Aimless and Super Sneak with a max mana of 38. Only Earth, Life and Dragon splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Quix the Devious4SummonerReason for going with Quix was I wanted to use Chaos Dragon for this battle. Chaos Dragon has Blast and with Scattershot, the attack could hit anywhere at the enemy backline. I also needed the -1 Speed from Quix to give me a speed advantage in this battle.
Hill Giant31stChaos Dragon took up a lot of mana so I don't have much mana left for my other units. I used Hill Giant as the tank because it is cheap and has decent health.
Mushroom Seer52ndAdded Mushroom Seer to reduce magic attack from opposing units in case my opponent also went with a magic attack lineup.
Goblin Psychic63rdI needed a healer to keep my tank alive as long as possible so that my Chaos Dragon can do the damage.
Venari Marksrat34thI placed Venari Marksrat right in the middle of my lineup hoping the Scattershot would cause enemy's Ranged and Magic units to kill it and triggering Martyr.
Chaos Dragon145thMy main DPS for this battle. I had it sitting between 2 units with Martyr ability hoping that these units would further boost my Chaos Dragon when they died. The tricky part was they had to die before my Chaos Dragon.
Vruz26thI had Vruz in the last position so that it can die either due to Sneak (from Super Sneak ruleset) or from Scattershot. Either way, Vruz should die within the first round and trigger Martyr to boost my Chaos Dragon.
Total Mana:37

Opponent Lineup:

My heart sunk when I saw my opponent lineup. My opponent went with a Earth splinter lineup with Immortalis as the summoner. Immortalis would give Void to all enemy units and thus making my Magic attacking lineup ineffective as my attack would be halved. I knew right away I would lose this battle as my main damage dealer is my Chaos Dragon.

End of Round 1:

Other than getting Vruz which went as planned, everything else fell apart. The magic attack from Chaos Dragon didn't do much because every single enemy units had Void. Immortalis had to be the worse summoner that my setup would faced. By the end of round 1, my Chaos Dragon was already dying. My opponent did very well using a combination of Grund and Thane Newsong whereby Thane Newsong's Inspire ability gave Grund's already big melee attack even stronger.

End of Round 2:

By the end of Round 2, I have lost almost all my units. To be frank, I straight away switch to result when I first saw the opponent lineup because I knew it was a lost for me right away.

End of Round 3:

3 round was all my opponent needed to destroy my lineup.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use my Chaos Dragon's magic attack to Blast the opponent backline while using Martyr to further boost its attack. The strategy went horribly wrong when my opponent used Immortalis as the summoner to give all the opposing units Void ability.

SUMMARY
I lost badly in this match but it is when you lost that you learned the most. This is the first time I put up a Battlemage Secret Challenge post on a losing battle and I would probably start to post more on losing battles rather than on winning battle.

After I went through this losing battle, I faced another Aimless battle that I did much better. The winning battle can be found on https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_e41e0ad941b702c77505c0e1239bcd50&ref=genming

I wouldn't go through that winning battle in details. But my advice is to analyze your opponent winning strategy more rather than analyzing your own winning strategy. I also would like to see people post more on their losing battle and explaining what went wrong.
