Man, the top topic today seems to be about how bad the trending page has become. But then I see the following excuse: but it was worse before when it was dominated by articles that were there because of bid bots. And I am sorry to say this but there was more quality with the bid bot trending posts that there is now. I read a lot and I can compare between then and now, then was better in quality, now get this straight not great quality which has never been Steemits forte but better than right now.
I have never been a great visitor to the trending pages but I do read a few of the posts and there generally was more variety before and more authors, now it seems there are about twenty people whose posts always trend because they always receive votes from the same auto bots. And I do go there now because unfortunately even my feed, I try to follow only those I consider to be good content creators, has now gone on the same path as the trending page, it shows mostly crap.
I also read some posts from the new tab, and there is where I do find the better posts not many but they are there. You see I do what most of you don't, I actually read the stuff being posted, unfortunately for the good authors I never vote because my vote is worth crap and I see no benefit in voting for someone.
But even on the new tab there is a problem there are fewer posts, how do I know this? Simple, before I used to see five or six new posts every minute that has gone down to three or four, this means activity is seriously down. People are posting less, I guess because all the votes are going to those twenty guys who populate the trending pages.
You see, as I thought when people were debating about the HF21 50/50 curation would not see an increase in manual curation because if I was getting 25% on auto vote why would I change it to manual because I would be getting 50%, in fact 50/50 was a God send more money for the same thing people were already doing, never mind it fucked authors over.
Yet stating this it seems, is being negative, activity is down, we have a shit trending page only a small group of people are making anything near decent money, I see no mass onboarding of people, in fact Steemit is in very bad shape. How can we fix this? I think there is a very easy way, shut down all auto voters, close the damned guilds, and start reading the damned posts and vote for the ones that deserve it. That should at least make quality writers come back to Steemit, otherwise what we will have is just shit posts like this one.
