I say this because I had set a goal to reach Minnow by the end of January of this year, I reached it on the 15th and now I actually see no reason for writing on Steemit, I just don't feel motivated. And seeing a lot of other people who still are collecting curation rewards but seem to have stopped writing for Steemit this trend of demotivated authors appears to be making its rounds.
I know that the community and SMT long awaited appearance should be a cause for positivism and motivation, but it just doesn't do anything for me, you know over two years ago when these things were first mentioned they did have a great impact, but after all this time and so many false promises the enthusiasm is just no there.
Another thing that makes me not feel too good is the way Steemit calculates the price of Steem, we have had Steem at a lot less than $0.20 for nearly the last six months and below $0.15 for the last three months. So even there we are getting a bad deal, because according to what I know the price should be calculated based on the average price of the last three and a half days, so we are getting less Steem than we should. For example I got $2.88 in rewards I receive about 15.7 Steem when in reality the price's average has been around $0.14, so I should have gotten about 20 Steem.
This does not really have an immediate impact, at the price Steem is at, who cares. But if Steem were to pump in the future then we would see we have been losing a lot of money with this exchange rate. Which tends to make it even less interesting to use Steemit. The only place this looks good is in the estimated value of my wallet, it appears as $105.55, I think it should be around $75.00.
But anyway talking about goals, I can see no goals that I can set. Reach Dolphin level? At this pace that would be 10 years at least. Be able to cash out $100.00 a month (That wouldn't be that bad for me, internet, electricity, water and my daily Coca Colas could be taken care of with that), but I am getting about $20.00 a month in rewards I would only be able to cash out $100.00 if my rewards shot up to $400.00 - 50% curation, 25% power up, $100.00 left. Now how do I manage to increase my income on Steemit to $400.00? One way is to only write stuff that talks about how great Steemit is, that is what we have on trending now. But that is just a remote hope, so I would say the only way to get to $400.00 is for Steem to increase its price twenty times, so we are talking about nearly $4.00 Steem, not likely but also not impossible.
But really I think I need some goal, there is just no reason to write crap on Steemit otherwise.
