I see a lot of ideas to have Steemit and Steem get out of the hole they are in, and they are there everybody knows that. Notwithstanding the appearance of things like the new Tribes, like PALnet, SteemLEO, SCT, Sportstalk, and a long list of others that is just too long to write here which have certainly increased activity on Steemit, I can see it every time I click the new tag there are a whole lot of new posts, much more activity than I have seen in months at least, it seems the problems just keep adding up. Some say Steemit is doomed, others say Steem is doomed, I really hope not.
So we have Hard Fork 21, I read somebody say well I was against it but since I am convinced the majority want it let's just do it. I wonder where this guy gets the idea the majority want it. Do you really think the majority have suicidal tendencies, the idea that with 50/50 curation rewards will make things AOK might be what people are selling but a lot of people aren't buying it, mainly because it is based not on fact but on the belief that people will change their curation habits with this 50/50 reward system, and the other ideas are also along those lines.
We are right now on Steemit about how the United Kingdom is in regards to BREXIT, fucked, the UK has to leave but they don't know how to do it because everyone has his own idea about it, and here it is also somewhat similar, some want HF21 but only some of it, others want it all, and others don't want any part of it. Now I believe and I really hope that the people who came up with the HF21 ideas are really trying to do the best for Steemit, even though sometimes I see some attitudes that make me question that belief.
But you see the main problem with Steemit and Steem has nothing to do with changes it has to do with the fact that a great idea was thrown to the dogs by the greed of a few people and the passiveness of the management guys, frankly I think Steem should be by now one of the top ten in market cap and yet it is 78 right now and will probably go lower. @Dan left created EOS and they are in the top ten, why can't Steem emulate that?
I guess because Steemit is not trusted, perhaps people who were here and had a bad experience have been bad mouthing Steem and Steemit, or some people who don't like the concept are working against it, you know like a conspiracy which so many of us like. But overall I feel that Steem's bad performance is not natural, I really think that there are some bad actors working against theplatform. That is why Hard Forks always make me nervous, some of the ideas are outright stupid, and can't possibly have positive results and yet they are implemented.
And we all know the only way for Steemit to grow and possibly survive is if Steem's price shows an uptrend, while it is down 100 well intentioned (maybe) Hard Forks will not help it at all. So what is needed is in reality investors but they won't come if Steemit is immersed in these fights that keep it down maybe instigated by unseen forces, but they sure as hell don't help the platform. @whatsup has the NewSteem idea, I really don't think that will do much but at least that is someone who knows we are in trouble and has taken the time to look for a solution.
Unfortunately I have no solution, I am just a small red fish, whose present attraction to Steem is the possibility of gambling, damned today I had 200 Steem winnings playing Blackjack and I lost them all in 6 throws, I am an idiot. But actually with the way Steem is behaving I don't think I really lost that much.
